Fauré’s Requiem comes to Wicklow Town
Wicklow Choral Society is delighted to perform alongside the Merrion Ensemble and accompanist Tatiana Konina at St Patrick’s Church, Wicklow Town, this October. Under the direction of James Bingham, the choir will present Gabriel Fauré’s sublime Requiem in D Minor – one of the most beloved works in the choral repertoire.
Unlike many settings of the Requiem Mass, Fauré’s masterpiece is filled with serenity, warmth, and hope, offering a vision of peace and eternal rest rather than fear and judgment.
From the exquisite Pie Jesu to the radiant In Paradisum, the music is both deeply moving and uplifting, captivating audiences with its beauty, tenderness, and emotional depth.
Set in the beautiful surroundings of St Patrick’s Church, this promises to be a memorable evening of outstanding choral and orchestral music, and a highlight of Wicklow’s cultural calendar this autumn.
